Lucknow: The Harishchandra Vanshiya Scholarships Programme was launched in Lucknow under the Skill Development & Startup Committee, coinciding with the 17th annual celebration of Rastogi Hospital. The initiative aims to support meritorious students and ease their pursuit of higher education.
The launch was graced by Guest of Honour, Vice President of Vishva Hindu Parishad, and current General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai from Ayodhya, Padma Shri Navjivan Rastogi, Rakesh Rastogi, New Delhi, Dr Anshu Rohatgi HOD Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, Prof ( Dr. ) Suryakant, Professor and Head, Dept. of Respiratory Medicine, King George Medical University & others.
Starting the scheme, 9 eligible students were given scholarships ranging Rs 10,000 – 15000. For the next time the target is of giving scholarships to 30 -35 eligible candidates ranging Rs 10,000 to Rs 25000 during 2025-26 session.
For the 2024 -25 session, 20 students scoring above 90% in their Board Exams were felicitated, with scholarships of Rs 5,000 each. The highest achiever scored 98.7%.
The scholarship lays special focus on students of the Harishchandra Vanshiya Samaj. A transparent Selection Committee will oversee the process.
Backed by contributions worth Rs 5 lakh from 19 donors, the initiative marks a significant step in promoting educational empowerment and nurturing young talent.
Scholarships for Academic Excellence in 2024–25
Speaking on the occasion, Sudhanshu Rastogi, President of the Skill Development & Startup Committee, highlighted the growing need for scholarship programmes to encourage education in today’s times. He emphasized that supporting meritorious students is essential for nurturing young talent and motivating them to pursue higher learning without financial stress.
The announcement was made by Chief Guest Rakesh Rastogi, who also pledged continued support to strengthen the initiative in the coming years.
Expanded Scholarships for 2025–26
Building upon this momentum, the committee announced the extension of the Harishchandra Vanshiya Scholarships for the 2025–26 session, with special focus on students belonging to the Harishchandra Vanshiya Samaj. The expanded programme aims to reach around 35 students across different education levels.

The scholarships are structured as follows:
- Rs10,000 for students of Classes 9–10
- Rs 12,000 for students of Classes 11–12
- Rs 15,000 for students pursuing Graduation
- Rs 25,000 for students enrolled in Professional Courses
Many more students, especially from Class 12 and Graduation levels, are now approaching the committee, and the selection process will continue in the coming weeks.
Transparent Selection and Community Support
To ensure transparency, a Selection Committee of experienced education professionals has been formed. This body will review applications and select candidates purely on merit, ensuring fairness in the process.
The programme has been made possible through the generous support of 19 contributors, who collectively donated Rs 5 lakh towards the initiative. Their contributions have provided the foundation for launching and sustaining this impactful educational support scheme.
